Our LGBT-Tours in Munich
Queer Walking Tour Munich
In the 1980s, Munich was considered one of the most important queer metropolises in the world. It’s no surprise, then, that Freddie Mercury chose the city as a second home and hosted legendary drag parties here. Munich also set political milestones: with Germany’s first AIDS support organization, the “Rosa Liste” party, and an active community that fought for visibility. This tour highlights the highs and lows of Munich’s LGBTQ history. Discover the locations that shaped the scene back then and find out where it’s still worth celebrating today.
We start at Sendlinger Tor Square with a short introduction to the tour and the topic. Our first stop is also located here: the AIDS Memorial. From there, we continue toward St. Jakob’s Square and then straight into the heart of the LGBTQ district. We follow the traces of queer emancipation, discover Freddie Mercury’s favorite spots, and pass by (at least from the outside) some of the most popular gay bars. To finish, we’ll enjoy a bit of street art.
